Artspace is pleased to present the works of Noelle I. K. Gray and Lauren Leake in two solo exhibitions that open on Friday, February 22, 2013 from 7-10pm and continue through March 17, 2013.
Noelle Gray will have her series "Edge" in the Main Gallery. These irregular weathered steel forms often combine glass, wax, and wire. Gray is a self taught painter, photographer and sculptor currently working in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. For the past several years she has developed her technique utilizing a wide range of materials to create abstract and figurative work with an emphasis on physicality. She has shown in Maryland, Ohio, Massachusetts, New York and Virginia and her work is included in private and corporate collections in Virginia, Florida and California.
Lauren Leake is an artist living and working in Richmond, Virginia. Lauren relocated from Charlottesville, Virginia in 2001 to pursue a career in Art Education and to develop her creative work. As an art teacher for Richmond Public Schools she sees first hand how important the creative process is to young students. To further explore her own voice as an artist, in 2009 Lauren enrolled in a master's program at Virginia Commonwealth University. Her show Forced Kinship, is her culmination of her work in painting, print and glass. Lauren will show her works in the Frable and Helena Davis galleries.
The Suzanne Foley Gallery will feature "Whose line is it anyway?" This is a group exhibition of work that is the result of collaborations of two (or more) artists. "Art to Go" is in the smallspace Gallery. These two shows feature works by artist members.
Gallery Hours, Tues-Sun, 12-4pm
