Yes, its true....the name alone causes you to stop and scratch your head before saying, nice!  YIP DECEIVER is the brainchild of Athens, GA multi-instrumentalist Davey Pierce.  Yip Deceiver’s music is an exciting take on experimental dance pop with strong hooks, playful take on new wave, 80s R&B and electro pop.  The other 50% of YIP is Nic Dobbratz, a classy singer/bass player/keyboardist who completes this electronic power duo.  This past January, YIP came through RVA on a part of their West-East coast tour.  By the witching hour around midnight, they had the Strangematter regulars twirling around the sticky dance floor like teens at a Sadie Hawkins dance.  Its this kind of 'no-strings' fun that makes YIP DECEIVER so endearing.  Davey and Nic usually finish their shows by dancing amongst the crowd, as if to celebrate the happening, not themselves.

On June 13th , you will be able to witness all things YIP, as they open for 'oF Montreal' at The National.
